May 30, 1920 - May 14, 2017
On Sunday, May 14, 2017, all Heaven rejoiced as Betty was welcomed into the arms of her Lord and Savior. Betty was born in Charleston, South Carolina, on May 30, 1920, to Ethel Rast and Julius Asbury Reynolds. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Carson Yates Conder, and her sons-in-law, K.D. Austin and Calbert L. Dings.
Betty and her husband, Carson, owned and operated Conder's Soda Shop for many years. The memories and friendships they developed during those years continued to bless both of them throughout their lifetime. Because of their love and devotion to our country, their vision led them to open Conder Flag Company. Betty was known as "the Betsy Ross" of Charlotte.
Betty was a beautiful, loving Christian who touched many lives. Her faith and her family were her focus in life. She was a member of Central Church of God and the Encouraging Word Sunday School Class.
She is survived by her five daughters, Janice C. Austin, Gail C. Dings, Elaine C.(Ernie) Creech, Mary C. (Jerry) Mauldin and Carol C. (Vernon) Smith; and her ten grandchildren, Barry (Laurin) Austin, Ashley (Wayne) Teague, Elizabeth (Layton) Everitt, Anna (Johno) Harris, Chad (Kim) Creech, Keri (Rick) Miller, Holly (Cody) Banner, Katie (Andrew) Coccia, Bonnie (Geary) Kent, Linda Dings Smith. She is also survived by her sister, Doris Reynolds Bellavita. She leaves nineteen great-grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and her beloved extended Conder Family.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at Central Church of God. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte Region, 1420 East Seventh Street, Charlotte NC 28204, or any charity of the donor's choice.
