September 1, 1964 - December 28, 2017
Catherine Korte Ford, 53, went to her heavenly home on Thursday morning after a long and hard-fought battle that ended peacefully. The devotion to her family and unwavering faith in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.
Catherine was born to Robert and Margaret Conley in Kettering, OH on Sept. 1, 1964. To know her was to love her. She prepared and served countless meals to the needy in both Charlotte, NC and in Henderson, NV. She was drawn to the "underdogs" in life and never walked past a person asking for help.
Catherine has a large and loving family. She married her best friend, Erin Ford on Nov. 1, 2003 in Charlotte, NC. Catherine adored her children, Andrea Lyn Whigham of Charlotte and Allison Lauren Korte of San Antonio, TX. Catherine's legacy of love and civic responsibility lives on in her beautiful daughters. She enjoyed nothing more than being in the kitchen with them, dancing, laughing and sharing stories. She also enjoyed sports and especially her Panthers, Chargers and Padres.
Catherine worked in the banking industry for many years as well as working with the elderly as a recreation coordinator. She took pride in her work and touched many lives along the way, none more than the life of her husband. The incredible people of Hospice and Palliative Care of Charlotte and the Levine and Dickson Hospice House made her final weeks comfortable and full of love and peace. They are unbelievable people. The family wishes to thank them more than we can express.
Catherine is survived by her husband, Erin; her daughters, Andrea and Allison; her parents, Robert and Margaret; and her four siblings, Pat, Bruce, Robert, and Elizabeth. There are plenty of other family members and friends that love and will miss her too.
A service in Catherine's honor will be held Saturday, Dec 30, 2017 at 12:00 noon at South Mecklenburg Presbyterian Church with burial to follow at Sharon Memorial Park. The family will be receiving friends and family at the family's home at 3:00 to take time to celebrate her legacy and life. Flowers may be sent to South Mecklenburg Presbyterian Church in her honor. She is at peace and we are thankful for that.
