Graham Gordon Mason, 81, died in Charlotte, NC on January 23, 2018. Graham (aka Poppy) was born August 11, 1936 in Schenectady, NY.
He graduated from Bryant College in 1956. He served in the US Army in Germany where he met his wife, Ursula Ball Mason. Upon their return to the US, Graham joined Aetna Life and Casualty where he spent his entire career. He attended night school at the University of Hartford and graduated with a BS degree in accounting. With his job at "The Aetna", he and his family lived in Connecticut, South Carolina, Maryland and finally calling North Carolina home. He retired in 1995 as the Assistant Vice President, Administration Department.
Graham was a kind man, devoted to his children with a keen intellect and fine appreciation of music, art, theater, books, card games and baseball. He was an avid golfer and was a long time member of his church choir. He enjoyed life and was blessed with the admiration of his colleagues, fondness of his many friends, and love of his family. Perhaps above all he had a magnificent sense of humor.
Graham is predeceased by his first wife, Ursula B. Mason; and his parents, Harry and Pamela Mason.He is survived by his wife, Susan A. Mason; and his brother, Richard R. Mason of Old Saybrook, CT; his children, Nadine Williams and her husband Charles Williams, Victoria Mason and her fiancé Bob Percival, and Carol Scoggins and her husband Greg Scoggins; his grandchildren, Tyler Williams and his wife Victoria, Derek Williams and his wife Kirsten, Graham Williams and his wife Athina, Beckett Lilien, Mason Scoggins and Paige Scoggins; his great-grandchildren, Madison, James, and George; his stepchildren, James Justice and his wife Robyn, Catherine Luckadoo and her husband Cliff and their children, Parker Justice, Brady Justice, Jackson Luckadoo, and Grace Luckadoo.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 Saturday, January 27, 2018 at St. John's Episcopal Church, 1623 Carmel Road, Charlotte, NC 28226.
