Dr. Richard H. Haug, 63, of Charlotte North Carolina, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2018. He was born on December 1, 1954 in Queens, New York. Richard graduated from the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University summa cum laude; and with highest honors at the School of Dental Medicine State University of New York at Stony Brook. He completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at Mount Sinai Hospital of New York. Among Dr. Haug's numerous achievements is the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon's Donald B. Osbon Award for Outstanding Educator in Postgraduate training; The American Dental Association's Golden Apple Award for undergraduate education; the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon's Committeeman of the Year Award for service to the profession; and the 2016 Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Foundation Research Recognition Award.
Richard had a passion for serving the homeless with the Street Ministry at Calvary Church in Charlotte, and was an avid chef and gardener. He was raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason in Smithtown New York lodge number 1127, and a current member of the Rocky River Ohio lodge number 703. Richard was also a member of Charlotte Commandery No. 2 Knights Templar Charlotte, North Carolina.
Richard is survived by his wife, Joanne; daughters, Chrissy, Rebecca, Melissa, and Priscilla; step-son, Bill; and brother, Steven.
