Rachelle Swanson, 73, passed away on February 3, 2018. She was raised in St. Paul, Minnesota to Raymond and Roselyn Tarte who preceded her in death.
Rachelle attended St. Joseph's Academy and the University of Minnesota. She worked in the Human Resource field both as a director and later as an instructor at St. Paul Technical College. She was a child advocate for the Guardian Ad Litem program working closely with children in foster care. She was an active and beloved board member of her Charlotte condominium Homeowner's Association where she volunteered daily to improve the community, organized children's events, and hosted holiday events.
Her favorite role was that of mother and grandmother. She moved to Florida and later to North Carolina to be closer to her daughters and grandchildren. She enjoyed baking special cookies and cakes for her grandchildren, taking them on outings, and having them over to her home for sleepovers. She also enjoyed cooking for family and friends, gardening, sewing, and traveling.
She will be sadly missed by her daughters, Meredith (Jamie) Boll and Janna (Juan) Barroso; grandchildren, Jacob, Josh, Sam and Daniel Boll, and Ben, Gabriella and Jack Barroso; sisters, Linda (Bob) Varing, Christine (Ian) Cheshire, and Andrea (Michael) Leinfelder; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 1PM on Wednesday, February 7 at the chapel at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Charlotte, NC.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's Foundation of America or Alzheimer's Association.
